Raising funds for Velindre Cancer Centre Stepping Stones Appeal.  Our own Velindre Ambassador, Town & Country Hotel’s MD Julian Hitchcock and his team “The Bear Back Riders” will take on a 390km bike ride from the stunning Yosemite National Park to San Francisco.  Led by 3 Welsh Rugby Captains, Jonathan Davies, Martyn Williams and Mike Hall they’ll be finishing the ride by crossing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th – Cowbridge Food Festival

The award winning Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival, sees the town at its most vibrant.  It is a weekend of culinary excellence and all round family entertainment.  Link to their website for updates and information.

Following the phenomenal success of the Brains SA Captains Climb up Mount Kilimanjaro last September, the second major Captains event was launched at the Senedd by First Minister Carwyn Jones, Velindre Fundraising President Jonathan Davies and former Wales rugby captain and Captains Climb participant Mike Hall.

The Captains California Bike Ride, taking place from 16th–24th September 2012, is a grueling 390km bike ride from Yosemite National Park to San Francisco, with a spectacular finish over the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.  The ride will be led by Jonathan,  Mike and Velindre Patron and Cardiff Blues and Wales star Martyn Williams

Our own Velindre Ambassador, Town & Country Hotel’s MD Julian Hitchcock and his team “The Bear Back Riders” will be joining the Captain’s once again as he hopes to beat his Kilimanjaro Climb fundraising total of over £27000.

We hope to have regular updates from Julian and the team as they start their training and fundraising efforts.

What is the Eisteddfod?

• A cultural festival, held through the medium of Welsh, which provides a national stage for music, dance, the visual arts, original performances, family activities and all kinds of competitions, in a welcoming, fun and unique environment.
• A festival which lasts for 8 days at the beginning of August. The location changes every year, alternating between north and south Wales
• A colourful Maes with a pink pavilion as the focus for the competing and the ceremonies, with hundreds of activities happening across the field.
• Over 300 tradestands and an Exhibition Hall full of crafts, jewellery and artwork.
